Definite Debate | November 26, 2015

Definite. Particular. Limited. Effectual. These are all terms used to describe rightly the work of Christ on the cross.

Debate. Anger. Hatred. Slander. These are all terms that accompany the above terms when talking about the work of Christ on the cross in relation to certain people and certain groups.

So why blog about something that could cause a blogging storm of debate? Because the Bible talks about it. Frankly my aim is not to cause a great debate. My aim is to discuss a biblical topic that other religions and cults discuss to discredit the Bible and Christian faith.

It’s best to discuss this from a bird’s eye view in order to gain the greatest perspective needed to cover it all.

The bible teaches that God is Trinitarian in nature, which means God is one in essence expressed in 3 persons. These persons act in accord to uniformly accomplish goals as only the creator of everything could.

With that said, the bible teaches that God played a role in creation of the heavens and earth, of animals, of man, and accomplishment of salvation. Yes, all 3 persons played a role, and here is how.

God the father loved every man, woman, and child created in his image that he chose an eclectic people from every tribe, tongue, and nation of image bearers to his in a special way. In this eclectic group, there is a tapestry of variety. But what’s not in this group is every single person. That’s important to distinguish. God the father set the agenda.

God the son loved every man, woman and child created in his image that he willingly went to Golgotha to die for the eclectic people from every tribe, tongue, and nation that God the father chose.

God the spirit loved every man, woman, and child created in his image that he is personally the present helper, filler, giver of gifts and understanding and power for the eclectic people from every tribe, tongue, and nation that God the father chose and God the son died for.

These 3 person act in concert with one another so that the divine agenda is carried out to perfection. In other words, this divine agenda is definitely accomplished. God’s love is given to all but limited to some in a special way. The agenda is for a particular group. God’s work is made effective for divine purposes directed at that chosen people.

We could talk particulars all day long, but having a framework like this is crucial in understanding what the bible teaches. It makes sense when we think of why cowards and deceivers like Abraham and Jacob were chosen; why prostitutes like Rahab were chosen; why killers like David and Samson were chosen; why racists like Jonah were chosen; why the hurt and disenfranchised like Daniel and Nehemiah were chosen. And that’s just a look at the Old Testament!

I hope this is encouraging to you all.
